2021 Highlights

January is most commonly a time of reflections and new resolutions, and in ARETE we have taken the chance to look back at crazy 2021 to see all the advancements made during the year.

Even if January 2021 did not give the chance to be very optimistic, 2021 has proved to be a great year full of highlights:

The ARETE Open Calls for teachers opened, so as to look for participants in Pilots 1 and 2. At its close, 17 teachers were selected for pilot 1, from a total of 5 countries. For pilot 2, a total of 166 teachers were selected, from 12 different countries. Both pilots are currently running from September 2021 until June 2022, and we are really looking forward to seeing the results! You can read more information about the Pilots here.

As for Pilot 3, a lot of work was done towards its implementation, which kicks off this month! We will follow the process closely and will let you know as soon as we have news!

Also, our Authoring Toolkit, Mirage XR, has been released, you can read the details here, and research has been carried out to analyse the Current problems with XR Authoring toolkits.

Our research and participation in dissemination events has been very fruitful. We have participated in the 33rd British Human Computer Interaction Conference, in the Immersive Learning Research Network, in the Virtual Reality Days, and in the SharpER Night. We have organised a Workshop on our own, The Future of XR: Current ecosystem and upcoming opportunities, and, the best of all: we have been able to see each other for the first time since the Kick-off meeting in November 2019.

We have only one resolution for this brand-new year: to continue working as well as we have up to now!
