ITD presents the ARETE project at Eperienza inSegna 2020

The team of the ARETE project composed by Giuseppe Chiazzese (CNR), Antonella Chifari (CNR), Marco Arrigo (CNR), Mariella Farella, (CNR) Crispino Tosto (CNR) Doriana Dhrami (CNR) participated at the scientific event Esperienza inSegna 2020 (http://www.esperienzainsegna.it/#).

Esperienza inSegna is a wide-ranging scientific event, built around annual themes and organized by the association PALERMOSCIENZA (http://www.palermoscienza.it). It stems from the idea that the transmission of knowledge takes place in order to leave a sign on the visitors, through scientific dissemination activities aimed at the city, schools and institutions. Students and teachers have been very interested in the 2020 edition of Esperienza inSegna and the participation had been far bigger than the one of 2019 edition.

Some numbers of this year are the evidence of that: 70 schools, thousand students, 273 exhibits, 210 teachers, 70 expositors, 65 laboratories, 9 conferences, 10 shows.

The Institute of Educational Technology of CNR prepared a lab for 11-14 years old students.

The name of the lab of the ARETE team was “Respect the earth. An educational treasure hunt in augmented reality.”

Almost 100 students of primary school took part at the challenge. They all enjoyed trying to solve riddles in Augmented Reality on the theme of global warming, pollution and environmental protection through separate collection.

The winner team had a symbolic award and all the participants had a certificate for participating to the lab.

Our lab received teachers’ compliments and students’ interest.

We all hope it was a first step moving towards the success of the use of the Augmented Reality in education.
